I live near you.

Navan - Kells - Virginia - Oldcastle - Kells - Trim is a great spin. Oldcastle to Kells is a super stretch

(Dublin) ... Clonee - Dunboyne - Trim - Navan - Kells - Kingscourt - Carrickmacross - Castleblayney - Newtownhamilton (UK) - Newry(UK) - Castlewellan (UK)

What do y'all think ? Good route ? Places, sheep, or Cops to watch out for ?
Id say go kells Virginia bailieborough kingscourt.

Re: Ireland's Best Biking Roads & Rideout Routes

Well, I had a bit of time on my hands today (after a wee spin earlier ) and decided it'd be a good idea to make ONE map with all the routes in this thread. I can't usually be bothered going through page after page of a thread in order to find what I'm looking for - especially having to read a load of dribble in between the interesting bits.

So I made a google map called biker.ie - see what I did there - and it's here

I've set it to public, so anyone who has a new route can just add it to this map and they'll all be in one place. Because of the direction for each route it turned into a multi-page monster, but it's easy enough to navigate. Just keep clicking 'next page' until you find something in the area you're looking for and then zoom in on it. Simples.

If I have some more time and can be arsed at some point in the future I may organize it some way or other (maybe by county and length of route or sumsuch).

In the mean time, this is gonna have to do - unless someone else is really bored and can be bothered.

Re: Ireland's Best Biking Roads & Rideout Routes

I was up the country last week and came apon this road, the R212 from Clones (co. monaghan) to Ballyhaise (co. cavan), sat nav told me to take the road off ballyhaise but was tempted to keep going and get re-routed, I was unfortunite to be in my cage but fook me, I even had a smile on my face thinking of being on my bike doing this stretch. loads of bends and plenty rises and falls to keep your wits about you. is there anyone from the area to confrim it keeps going like this all the way to Cavan?

I would defo go all the way up there, just to do it on the bike

don't know how to add to your map midlife?, class idea btw

g.maps route

if you take the r188 from cavan to cootehill,
from there you have 2 options

1, continue onto R190 to ballybay and to castleblaney, tis a savage bit of road
or
2, r188 through swans cross back to monaghan

some job

Fair play for doing that. I added a few short ones around Laois/Wicklow there

It could definitely do with a few routes close to Dublin other than the Gap
