Where could I buy a SINGLE strip of metal?

Need to fix a green house door. Its made of plastic and has cracked halfway down on the vertical edge of the door. Its now just flapping in the wind. It really is a bit of a flimsy affair, with very little structure to it. Unfortunately no way possible that I could see to do the repair with wood.

The only way I can see to fix it would be to get a strip of aluminium or steel, a few millimeters thick by about 10 to 12 mm wide. I could simply drill holes every few inches and then glue/epoxy and screw that strip to the outside edge of the door.

Does anyone know of a metal merchant in the Cork area that would sell a single strip of metal?

Would also be useful to know for future projects, where I could buy square or tube aluminium or steel in small quantities.

If theres a recycling centre near you its possible to pick up handy bits of metal there, depending on the staff of course, if you meet a thick cunt yer goosed but if you explain that your actually recycling stuff they will usually let you take odd bits.
B&Q sell bits of metal too but its fookin dear for what you get.

Bigger places like Miko Metals or Irish International sell
full sheets. You might be lucky and find an offcut.

I have bought small quantities from the guys at the
city end of Centre Park Road.

Killmallock is the nearest. Those lads are pure cnuts. Wouldn't let you take a thing. Went to pickup a ceramic flower pot for the mam the last time and your man went ape.

Thanks lads. Never thought of Miko, should have bought enough screws and bolts of them before.

Would never have considered B&Q. Will give them a try. Checked their UK site and the strip I need should cost less than a tenner so that's OK, just to get the job done. Could see them getting real expensive if you were working on a project.

Thanks lads.

go into a local hardware store and ask for a 900mm wallplate strap

it should do what you are looking to fix
