1986 CR 125 Engine/Other parts wanted

Looking for a running engine, exhaust system, cylinder head and a few other parts (not looking for much am i) i have the complete bike, and most of the engine. Was seized when i got it and had been kept outside for a while that didnt help ,when i split the engine i noticed a small part from the top of the gear selector was missing, which may have been one the causes of the seizure the treads for the sump bolt where sheared so my guess is it didnt keep the oil in to well, and last but not least there is a small crack in the engine casing (can this be repaired) so need a doner engine until i rebuild this one? does anyone know what parts from other model will fit this bike or have any parts or tips on rebuilding (other than dont feckn bother) ..........(not the actual bike in picture above) in .: clap:

Dude,

You looking at restoring a 1986 bike - respect, wouldn't be an easy project in this country, almost all the spares are still available, but you would have to source them from over the water, look at www.niclassicscramblesclub.com and on www.mxtrax.co.uk they have a vintage section that's quite active.

Strictly speaking, your bike is an evolution bike as its water cooled with a single shock, but there are loads of fellas in the UK riding these and other models of the same year in meetings and for fun.

I have a 1988 250 version in pieces as well, have found that these early Honda's had a problem with the water pump housing, rots away due to the casings being made of magnesium and not too happy with water and all the impurities, later models had aluminium casings and the water pump issues were resolved.

Best of luck and feel free to drop me a line if you need help.

Hi Tommy,
Are these problems still present in the 91 cr250 versions? Or where they resolved by this year?
Thanks

Fabz,

I think they changed the casings to ally in about 89/90 so the 91 should be cool
