» Michael Dunlop: Injury forces withdrawal
Jun 26, 2019 - 12:20 PM - by Admin
Michael Dunlop has withdrawn from the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the US because of an injury he suffered at the Donegal International Rally.

Dunlop's team, MD Racing, say the rider will be out of action for two weeks as a result of the injury.

The 30-year-old was sitting 10th in his class when he crashed out during the Knockalla stage last Saturday.

The MD Racing statement read:
"Michael suffered serious injuries which will leave him out of action for two weeks.

"A further update of his condition will be made in the near future."

» tax disc covering reg plate
Jun 26, 2019 - 12:04 PM - by Bren
after approx. 20 years on a bike I got points for speeding.
at the time I actually noticed the speed van, but for some reason I thought I was in a 60 zone, when in fact it was a 50.

I guess I was due some points for previous karma.
anyway, I see a lot of lads that use the tax disc to partially cover the reg plate.
to the lads on here that do this, do you ever get pulled for this?

» Bike Recalls
Jun 25, 2019 - 10:51 PM - by Ste B
Was looking up a bit of info about my own bike earlier and by chance found out it never got 2 recalls from suzuki, one over a front a master cylinder issue and one over a rectifier. Both recalls were issued over 6 years ago, been onto a local suzuki dealership and it's going in for a new master cylinder and rectifier this week

I came across the site linked below and was really surprised at the number of bikes that have recalls on them, probably plenty of owners on here that are unaware there even is a recall on their bike. I posted a second link to the european commissions site which allows you to search back as far as 2005 for a recall.

» Different bike culture in mainland?
Jun 24, 2019 - 10:02 PM - by Christopher Livingstone Eubanks
Was in France for work reasons and the amount of bikes is staggering. Not only scooters though, superbikes etc. I've probably seen every type of bike there currently is in my short stay. S1000rr, mt-10, superduke, etc. I haven't been to Spain or Germany yet and wondering if it's the same. Irish prefer to clog up the roads 24/7 and rot inside their *censored*. It's pathetic really when insuring a bike and taxing it here is much cheaper. Is the only excuse the shitty weather all year round?

"A teenage member of a gang styling itself the Farranree Joyriders was identified when he posted pictures of himself on social media posing on two stolen motorbikes."

When the little toe rag got a little bit cheeky in court the judge instead of granting bail remanded him in custody.

Let hope this judge sends a loud and clear message when it comes to final sentencing. It's certainly a step in the right direction so far.

» New helmet
Jun 24, 2019 - 2:53 PM - by Jack stowage
Hi guys hope someone can help me.I bought a new helmet or lid as some of you lads seem to call them..
I like bought it in Bikeworld..it cost €650, lots of you told me to try one on in bike world then buy the exact same one on line like for much less euro.
I like to support local businesses so i like decided against going on line.
I like took it out of the box thing and straight away noticed a problem..the lid was like ALSO wrapped in a cloth type bag thing..after several minutes i like managed to cut the string and got the lid out..phew..like time for a coffee...
So i'm like put on the lid and i'm like WTF...i cant see out through the front screen bit..i'm like MOM...MOM...I'M LIKE GONE BLIND OR SOMETHING...
Took the lid off..phew..but no time for a... [Read More]

» Oil filter
Jun 22, 2019 - 2:27 PM - by Rockster
In my continuing penny pinching efforts im doing oil and filter on the cb. Have a brand new hiflo oil filter in the shed (HF 303) which fits perfectly but according to the Wemoto website the Hf 204 is the one for the bike.
Question is, would I damage the bike in any way using a different oil filter? Its about half an inch longer but fits on fine. Cant see how it would be a problem am I right?

Jun 22, 2019 - 10:54 AM - by johnmxcr125
Well lads, have an itch I need to scratch, but said I'd do a bit of research first before I dove straight in. Really want to get a road reg enduro as it seems like an absolute blast. Just wondering if any lads on here have one and is there many places to use them without being bothered? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

» Recutting threads on an axle
Jun 20, 2019 - 9:49 PM - by Quello Serio
This is part of my rear wheel axle assembly. The threads are badly worn, and only barely gripping. Whats the best way to approach fixing this? I'll assume that it could be recut if I could get hold of a suitable Die (its about 15mm). Any suggestions for someone (north Dublin city/county) who could do it for me?

» Yamaha Thundercat (YZF 600) parts
Jun 18, 2019 - 9:32 AM - by manbearpig
Hi All,

Took this bike as a part exchange against my own bike. Lovely machine- I was very surprised by the handling and comfort - brakes need a service and the usual oil and filter etc.

I was going to shift but such a fun bike to ride I'm going to keep it. As such she needs a few bits and bobs- anyone have parts in a box for this beauty? In particular looking for indicators and end can? Last owner had put in flush indicators that are impossible to see.

Lads. Bit of advise on the legallity and morals of taking my 4 1/2 year old on a daily 5 min ride as part of my commute. Dropping him to a child minder. All 50kph zone. My only other option is to buy a car. Which would actually make me sick. He loves riding with me as it is. But it's only been around the estate.

I'm I mad for even considering this.

» Dublin is putting me off buying another bike
Jun 14, 2019 - 10:38 AM - by Luki
I've had a commuter bike pretty much since 2008. I have been living in Canada the last while. I didn't lock my bike anywhere in Vancouver. Bike crime doesn't really exist.

Just back in Dublin, 2 weeks and have been looking for a cheap 600cc plus bike between flat hunting.

There is nothing under Ä2k and less than 10 years old on donedeal. Where are all the guys who used to import bikes from USA/Japan/UK for resale gone, that the used prices are so high?

Add to this the hastle of not being able to own anything here without:
1 Some arseling sitting on it for a picture and knocking it over
2 Vandalising/robbing a part
3 Outright stealing the bike
Why are Dublin Garda fucking useless at tackling petty criminality? I'd... [Read More]
