» Reg/rec or Battery?
Apr 08, 2024 - 5:23 AM - by Rockster
Bike is a 09 Varadero. Showing 12.2v with engine off. 13 ish volts at 3k rpms and won't go into the 14v no matter how much I rev it
As far as i can gather it's still on the original reg/rec.
I'm guessing as there's no fluctuations in readings on the multimeter that it's a dodgy battery and not reg/rec. The brightness of the headlights doesn't vary with revs either
When my vfr's one went kaput it showed 16v and above and the battery was giving off a sulphur smell with a fizzing noise.

» 2005 cbr600rr non runner
Mar 09, 2024 - 1:27 PM - by sub zero
How's it going?

I have a 2005 CBR600RR that I can't get running. I changed the reg/rec on it ages ago and it was then left sitting for a while. When I went back to fire it up again it wouldn't start. I turned the key and the Wife went mental - needles kept sweeping and the lights kept flashing on and off.

I left it alone for a bit and came back to it and tried again this time though it was totally dead and when I hit the starter all I got was clicking. I just checked fuses to make sure nothing was blown and I put a new battery in it but I'm not sure where to go now. I could just start spending money and hope for the best but has anyone encountered an issue like this before?

Any suggestions for suff to check would be appreciated - thanks lads

Got out for a spin and was surprised at how less rusty I was than previous years. Chilly but the heated grips earned their keep! Hoping to do a lot more this Summer. Starting to realise the years are passing quicker.

» Sv1000 Rotor Magnets
Feb 19, 2024 - 11:43 PM - by manbearpig
Hi All,

Had a balls of a day. Sv left me stranded on the M18. Managed to push it to the parking space just after Gort. After a quick tow Ive managed to find the culprit.

The SV has mangled 2 magnets off the rotor and won't charge the battery. I was lucky to be able to pull in safely and also very lucky with the weather.
Anyway - struggling to get replacements, anyone have any ideas?

» McCormack 'confident of top 10 return' at TT 2024
Feb 19, 2024 - 4:40 PM - by Admin
Racer Brian McCormack has said he is "confident" of getting back into the top 10 at the 2024 Isle of Man TT.

McCormack, who is the second fastest Irishman around the course behind Mike Browne, secured his best finish in 2019 with ninth in the Senior.

He said he would be "looking for more in 2024" as the team's "whole season is built around it".
"I know where I need to improve so hopefully I'll get it all together," the 40-year-old added.
The Waterford man has been competing at the June event since 2010 and had just recorded his best finish in the races in 2019 when the coronavirus pandemic led to the cancellation... [Read More]
